SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

What is Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual direction is a gentle, attentive practice of listening for God together.

Rather than offering advice or fixing problems, spiritual direction creates space to notice how God is already moving within your life — in your questions, your desires, your struggles, and your longings.

In many ways, it is less about “direction” and more about companionship. A spiritual director simply walks alongside you, helping you pay attention to your inner life and your relationship with God with curiosity, honesty, and compassion.

Together we might explore:

  • Where you are currently experiencing God’s presence or absence

  • The patterns, stories, or beliefs shaping your spiritual life

  • Seasons of grief, burnout, or transition

  • The deeper desires and invitations stirring in your heart

Spiritual direction is not therapy, teaching, or coaching.
It is a sacred space to slow down, listen deeply, and become more aware of God’s presence within the ordinary rhythms of your life.

What Happens in a Session?

Spiritual direction sessions are typically one hour and happen about once a month.

During our time together, you are invited to bring whatever feels most present in your life — questions about God, life transitions, grief, uncertainty, or simply a desire to deepen your awareness of God’s presence.

There is no pressure to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have the right words. We move slowly, paying attention to what rises in your heart and where the Spirit might be gently inviting you.

Sometimes we sit with silence.
Sometimes we explore prayer, scripture, or reflection.
Sometimes we simply make space for the honest parts of your story to be seen and held.

The goal is not to arrive at quick answers, but to grow in attentiveness, freedom, and trust in God’s presence with you.

If something in you feels drawn to this kind of space, you’re welcome to reach out through the contact form or email. You don’t need to have everything figured out — curiosity and openness are enough.

We’ll schedule a short introductory call where we can get to know each other, talk about what brings you here, and explore whether spiritual direction feels like a good fit.

If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule monthly sessions where we can begin paying attention together to how God is moving in your life.

Spiritual direction is a slow and sacred process. There is no rush and no pressure — only an open invitation to listen more deeply to the story God is unfolding in you.

Who Spiritual Direction Is For?

Spiritual direction is for anyone who desires to pay deeper attention to their life with God.

You don’t need to have your faith figured out or be in a perfect spiritual place. In fact, many people come to spiritual direction during seasons when things feel uncertain or unsettled.

Spiritual direction may be a good fit for you if you are:

  • Longing to deepen your awareness of God in everyday life

  • Feeling spiritually dry, stuck, or disconnected

  • Navigating grief, loss, burnout, or major life transitions

  • Wrestling with questions about faith or doubt

  • Wanting a safe space to explore your inner life with honesty

  • Seeking to grow in prayer, discernment, and attentiveness to the Spirit

  • Desiring a slower, more grounded way of living with God

At its heart, spiritual direction is simply an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and notice the ways God is already present in your story.

Who Spiritual Direction May Not Be For

Spiritual direction is a unique kind of relationship, and it may not be the right fit for everyone at every stage.

Spiritual direction may not be the best fit if you are primarily looking for:

  • Counseling or mental health therapy

  • Crisis intervention or urgent emotional support

  • Advice, problem-solving, or step-by-step guidance

  • Intensive coaching or goal-setting

While spiritual direction can be deeply healing, it is not a replacement for therapy or clinical care.

Instead, it offers a reflective, prayerful space to explore your spiritual life and relationship with God with patience and curiosity.

Many people find spiritual direction especially helpful alongside therapy, counseling, or other forms of support.
